Walk the Premier League!
Walk the Premier League: A National Challenge with Local Roots
Our Headteacher, Mr Stewart, is walking over 1,000 miles, visiting all 20 Premier League stadiums during school holidays, to raise awareness and funds for safer school communities and better opportunities for children.
What is the Walk the Premier League Challenge?
In 2026, our Headteacher, Mr Peter Stewart, will take on the biggest challenge of his life – walking to all 20 Premier League football stadiums, covering well over 1,000 miles.
He will complete the challenge only during school holidays, starting in February half term and continuing through Easter, May half term and the summer holidays until every mile is complete.
This is more than just a walk. It’s a campaign for:
-
Safer communities for our children
-
Better facilities for school communities
-
Greater opportunities for young people across the country
We’re proud that this national challenge has its roots right here at New Moston Primary School.
Why Are We Doing This?
When Mr Stewart became Headteacher at New Moston, he saw first-hand:
-
The strength and spirit of our community
-
The challenges many families face
- The tragedy and fear that New Moston and North Manchester have experienced in the past year.
-
The potential our children have when they are given the right support and opportunities
Since then, our community has experienced difficult moments and tragedy. This challenge is our way of saying:
We stand together for safer streets, stronger communities and brighter futures for our children.
The Walk the Premier League will:
-
Shine a light on the importance of safe, welcoming spaces for children
- Make the country aware of the challenges that school communities face!
-
Raise funds to improve facilities in school communities
-
Inspire children to see that ordinary people can do extraordinary things when they act for others
Our campaign message is simple:
Safer Communities with Greater Opportunities.

Turning Miles into Real Change: 20 School Community Projects
For each Premier League club on the route, the campaign will support one school community project – a total of 20 projects.
These will focus on things like:
-
Improving sports and play facilities
-
Creating safe spaces for children and families
-
Supporting youth and community programmes that give children positive opportunities
Some projects will be here in North Manchester, including a special homecoming project for New Moston Primary School. Others will be based in communities along the route, so the impact of the walk is felt across the country.
More details about how schools can apply or be nominated for these projects will be shared on this page and via our social media channels.
Premier League Ball Giveaways & Special Challenges
To make the journey even more exciting for children and families, we’re planning some special features:
We will be giving away 100 official Premier League footballs during the challenge.
To win one, children will need to:
-
Find Mr Stewart on the route with an adult
-
Know the “Secret Footballer” of the day.
-
Tell him the correct name – if you get it right, the ball or special giveaway could be yours!
Clues about the Secret Footballer will be shared on social media
Walk and Talk a Mile
Mr Stewart is going to invite people of the community, other headteachers, leaders, celebrities, influencers to join him for a mile whilst they talk about community challenges in the communities they grew up in or are working in. These stories will unite people on the mission for achieving safer communities with greater opportunities and will be filmed to put on social media.
