The Manchester Family Walk

A City Walking Together for Safer, Stronger School Communities

As part of Walk the Premier League, we are inviting families, pupils and school communities from across Manchester to join us for a very special event:

A family-friendly walk from Manchester United to Manchester City — a celebration of unity, pride and the incredible children who make this city what it is.

This event is open to all primary-aged children and their families, and forms the homecoming leg of Peter’s 1,000+ mile national challenge.

It will be one of the biggest community school walks Manchester has ever seen — and we’d love you to be part of it.

What Is the Manchester Family Walk?

The Manchester Family Walk is a safe, supported, inclusive community walk designed for families, schools, prams, toddlers, grandparents and groups of friends.

Together, we will walk a route between Old Trafford and the Etihad, creating a moment of joy, pride and solidarity for thousands of children across the city.

This is not a race or challenge —
it’s a celebration of Manchester’s school communities stepping up together.

WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

We are aiming to set a brand-new world record:
the largest number of primary-aged children walking between two Premier League football stadiums in the UK.

As part of the Manchester Family Walk from Manchester United to Manchester City, children from schools across the city will come together to make history, celebrate community pride and step up for a cause that matters.

Every child who joins becomes part of a moment Manchester will never forget.

Why This Walk Matters

Primary-aged children across North Manchester deserve:

  • more safe spaces

  • more positive community activities

  • more opportunities to thrive

  • more reasons to feel proud of where they live

Walking together:

  • strengthens relationships

  • boosts wellbeing

  • connects families and schools

  • creates visibility for children’s needs

  • builds community belonging

It also supports the development of the North Manchester Primary Sport & Community Hub, a transformational facility designed to give children and families a safe, inspiring place to learn, play and grow.
