MUFC Foundation
A new opportunity for our children and families
We are proud to announce a partnership with the Manchester United Foundation, bringing high-quality sport, leadership and enrichment opportunities into school every Friday.
From this term, Coach Andy will be based at New Moston Primary School each week, working alongside staff to develop children’s confidence, teamwork, character and enjoyment of physical activity while also creating meaningful opportunities for families to be involved.
This is part of our commitment to ensuring every child has access to experiences that help them thrive, both in school and beyond.
What will happen each Friday?
1) Curriculum sessions (during the school day)
Andy will deliver planned sessions for one year group at a time, across the year. These sessions will focus on:
-
physical development and fundamental movement skills
-
teamwork and communication
-
confidence, resilience and positive attitudes
-
participation, enjoyment and inclusive sport for all
2) Lunchtime provision
At lunchtime, Andy will be on the playground supporting:
-
structured games and activities
-
positive play and teamwork
-
inclusive participation and engagement
-
leadership opportunities for children
3) Afternoon programmes
In the afternoons, Andy will deliver targeted sessions such as:
-
Play Leaders (supporting pupil leadership, responsibility and role-modelling)
-
small group activities to build confidence and engagement
-
opportunities linked to behaviour, routines and positive play
4) After-school family workshops
After school, Andy will run a range of practical workshops designed for parents/carers to attend alongside their child. These sessions are intended to be:
-
engaging and hands-on
-
useful for family life
-
a great way to build confidence, relationships and community
One example is Mini-Medics, where children and parents/carers learn simple, age-appropriate skills together.
Why are we doing this?
This partnership supports our school values of Growth, Standards, Attitude and Pride by:
-
helping children develop confidence, resilience and teamwork
-
increasing participation in sport and structured play
-
developing leadership and responsibility
-
strengthening relationships between school and home through shared experiences
We want our children to have access to the kind of opportunities that widen horizons and build long-term habits for success.
