Attendance
At New Moston, we believe that every day in school matters. Regular attendance is vital to a child’s learning, progress, and future success — and we are committed to working in partnership with families to make sure every pupil attends school every day, on time, and ready to learn.
We understand that good attendance is more than just being present; it’s about building routines, creating a sense of belonging, and giving children the best possible start in life. Even small amounts of absence can have a big impact — so we prioritise early support, clear communication, and strong relationships with families to help every child achieve excellent attendance.
Our Commitment
We are here to help. Our pastoral and attendance teams work closely with families to understand challenges, offer
support, and put the right solutions in place. Together, we can ensure that every child is in school, engaged, and
ready to succeed — today, tomorrow, and for the future.
Our Approach
Our attendance work is guided by four key principles that ensure we are proactive, supportive, and consistent:
Identify
We closely monitor attendance to spot patterns, trends, and any pupils who may be at risk of persistent absence.
Intervene
We act quickly with timely, targeted support to remove barriers and help families improve attendance before issues
escalate.
Involve
We build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies — because improving attendance is a
shared responsibility.
Improve
We celebrate success, share progress, and sustain high standards so that every child has the best chance to thrive.
